One of the handful of things I always thought Windows had over the Mac is that you could get the path to a file on your hard drive or server. I thought this was true until today.
This little trick was found by total accident. First, find a file to which you want to get the path. I will use Ecto.app for this example. Open TextEdit (/Applications/TextEdit.app). This should give you a blank text window; if not go to file/new. Under Format menu, change it to "Make Plain Text".
Now drag and drop your file onto the new window.
BINGO!!!! You now have the path to your file !!!
