I for one am on hold to get one. I want to see if it is worth the $500 for it. In my looking at it I noticed 2 things in one of the apple videos.

In the Activation video on apples side http://www.apple.com/iphone/usingiphone/activation_medium.html you can find 2 things:

1. Pricing: It was told to me you have to hold out to the 29th to know the price on the ATT plan's. well in the video you will see they are;

$59.99, $79.99 and $99.99

2. 80gb iphone? If you look at the end of the movie there is a 80GB iphone. I think they just used a 80GB ipod so it would look like they can fit more movies on it. On the other hand Could apple be putting out an 80gb iphone that is a little thicker? They have done that in the past with the ipod.

Apple is not this sloppy so they must have something under there hat. Time will tell.... One more thing ..... ;-)

I thought this was true until today.

This little trick was found by total accident. First, find a file to which you want to get the path. I will use Ecto.app for this example. Open TextEdit (/Applications/TextEdit.app). This should give you a blank text window; if not go to file/new. Under Format menu, change it to "Make Plain Text".

Now drag and drop your file onto the new window.

BINGO!!!! You now have the path to your file !!!

So.... for me, just playing with the OS is not that much fun [yes it is cool, but games are better :) ]. Let's see what it is like to play W.o.W.

MMM..... well you can't :) It is way too slow at about 1 - 1/2 fps. You really can't do anything. I first tried walking around one of the big towns, but with the low frame rate, by the time I stopped moving, I was nowhere near the place I wanted to be. So I was thinking I could use it to farm the auction house. But again, it was just to cumbersome. After much thought, I could only think of ONE use: if I was waiting to get into an instance and wanted to chill out in my living room instead of at my computer, I could glance at my PSP to see when it was time to go and play.

A little video to show the fps one the PSP
http://macovermatter.com/archives/MVI_5056_sm2.AVI

By now, some of you might be asking how well does this work with the OS? Well, not bad—besides the fact you can't see your mouse :). Other than that, you can see and play with the OS just fine.

What you will need to do this:

A PSP with firmware 1.5 ( not 1.5.1 and 1.5.2)
portablevnc On the PSP
A Mac running OSXvnc

How to:
1. Install portablevnc on the PSP. It is very simple to do. Just follow the instructions.
2. Open up OSXvnc.app and give your Mac a name and a password. Then hit start.

Yeah, that is about it!! The only thing that was a little out of the ordinary was on my PSP, I had to set the network setting by hand. PortableVNC does not work well with DHCP.

What do you think Jobs will pull out of his hat this Mac World? What would you like apple to come out with?

Myself. I have wanted three things for a very long time:

1. A pda like the Newton. I still think the Newton is the best pda out if only it was smaller. Ya I know the palm is good but can you fax from it? Will it convert your bad handwriting to text? I think not.

2. A Mac tablet. COME ON APPLE dell has one you should too. I want this soooo bad I made one (see mactablet). I think if apple made one they would do a better job then I did.

3. A PVR like Tivo thing. I can make move, play with photos, make music, and have all my mp3 on my Mac but I cannot do a lot with my Mac in the living room. I would love to see a Apple PVR that would let me move the movies to my Mac to burn on a DVD or move movies from my Mac to my living room to see on my big TV.

Is this too much to ask??? Let me know that you think apple should come out with this Macworld. (If you have any inside info please let me know :-) )

Why would you want one if it is really only half the keyboard? Well... after playing a game for any length of time, my hands kill me. I also have a very hard time hitting all the keys for some of the newer games (whatever happened to one stick and one button, anyway? Ooooh, Atari, you had it right all along).

Installing:

I always just plug in a device to see what will happen. The Nostromo—prior to installing all its drives—worked like the left side of a keyboard, only with extras such as a thumb movement pad and scroll wheel. Once I installed the drives, the app allowed me to configure every button, as you may have guessed.

Game play:

World of Warcraft:
Dont give up your keyboard! In a game like WoW, you have to type in order to talk to other players. However, when in battle or running around doing all the quests, I found using the Nostromo to be better. I set up the thumb pad to do all the walking and running and the finger key to cast the spells. This set up worked well, but I took some time to adjust. The only thing that I did not like was that I now have three things to use: a mouse, a keyboard, and the Nostromo, so my desk feels cluttered.

First person shooters (FPS)
I think this is what the Nostromo was made for: no typing, just fast killing. Having all the buttons in one hand makes changing weapons and reloading simpler. After two hours of playing Unreal 2004, my hands and wrists felt great, which was unlike how they felt after using a standard keyboard.

Thoughts:
I like it, but just don't dump the keyboard yet. The Nostromo is well worth the money, and I also see myself setting up some way to use it with Photoshop and all the macros I have set up. The only down side is desk space. It will take up the same space as a mouse pad. This is space most of us do not have.

Mice:
You have 10 fingers and Apple has always thought you can use just one on your mouse. If you know any Mac users who still have the one-button Mac mouse, get them a two-button mouse with a scroll wheel. They are simple and are only $10 - $40.

Music:
Back in June, a friend of mine gave me for my birthday a gift certificate to Apple iTunes. I have to say, this was a killer gift and I would recommend it. I was able to download the music I wanted, play it on my iPod, and burn it to a CD.
http://www.Apple.com/itunes/

OS X:
For the people who have friends that have not upgraded to OS X or are running an older version: get them a copy of the latest OS by Apple. I know this is a simple one, but most people do not keep up with their OS. $99.00 - $129.00

http://www.Apple.com/

Storage:
In the past three years, a lot of people have come out with new key change storage or thumb drives. This type of storage is good for people on the go or have to transfer files from one computer to another.

Once Apple came out with iLife (which comes with GarageBand), they gave people with very little training a way to make great—and not so great—music. This has encouraged a lot of cool products to be made compatible for the Mac. I have made a list of some that you should consider getting for the music maker in your life.
